This is the website of Mental Grit Consulting LLC ("Mental Grit", "we"). We coach young athletes, so we hold ourselves to a simple standard here: collect as little as we can, say plainly what we do collect, and never sell any of it. This page covers mentalgritconsulting.com. Our booking pages, our training app and our community have their own sign-up steps and are covered by the terms you see there.
The Short Version
- You can read everything on this site without telling us who you are.
- If you write to us, we keep what you send so a person can answer you.
- We measure visits with Google Analytics, the Meta pixel and Cloudflare's cookieless counts. You can block the first two, and the site works the same.
- Feedback on our articles is anonymous by design.
- We never sell personal information, and we never publish an athlete's name or photo without the family's permission.
What You Give Us
The Contact Form
When you send a message we receive your name, your email address, your message, whether you are a parent, athlete, coach or someone else, and your phone number and sport if you choose to add them. It goes two places: our customer records system (GoHighLevel), so we can reply and keep track of the conversation, and a private channel in our team's Slack, so someone sees it promptly. It is not stored on this website. We use it to answer you and to follow up: a person on our team may email, call or text you about what you asked and about working with us. Tell us to stop at any time, by replying or by writing to the address below, and we will. If you become a client, we use it to serve you.
Questions on the Utah Swimming Pages
"Ask Coach Last" asks a parent or coach for a name, an email address and the question, with your club and a little about your swimmer optional. The question is held only long enough to reach our records, then deleted from the website's side. Athletes are not asked for contact details anywhere on those pages.
Anonymous Feedback
At the foot of each Library article we ask whether it made your part clearer, and you may add a few words. On the Utah Swimming articles we ask whether the piece landed. In both cases we store your answer, the page it was about, the time, and your words if you wrote any. We do not store your IP address, a cookie, or your browser details with it, so we cannot tell who said what. Anything you type is read by our team only and is never shown on the site. Please leave names out.
If you highlight a sentence in a Library article, your browser keeps a random identifier in its own storage so that one reader counts once. We store that identifier, the page, and a fingerprint of the sentence (not its text). Clearing your browser's site data removes the identifier.
Measurement and Advertising
We use Google Analytics to see which pages are read and how people arrive, and the Meta pixel to measure our advertising on Facebook and Instagram and to show our ads to people who have visited. Both set cookies and receive your IP address, the pages you view and details about your browser. When you send the contact form they are told that a form was sent, never what your message said. One more thing you should know: Meta's pixel uses a feature called automatic advanced matching, which can read the email address, phone number or name typed into a form on the page and send Meta a scrambled (hashed) version, so Meta can match the visit to an account for ad measurement. The content of your message is never part of that.
To opt out: use Google's opt-out add-on; adjust your Meta ad preferences; or use your browser's tracking protection or a content blocker. Nothing on this site depends on either tool.
Other Services This Site Relies On
Like any website, ours is delivered by other companies, and they see the technical details of your visit (such as your IP address) in order to do that: Cloudflare hosts the site and counts visits for us with its Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not follow you from site to site; Google Fonts serves the typefaces; Vimeo and Descript play the videos, and may set their own cookies when you press play. Links to book a call take you to our booking pages at mental-grit.com, run on GoHighLevel, where you will see what is asked for before you submit it.
Children and Teenagers
Our coaching is for young athletes, but this website is written for the adults around them, and the forms that ask for contact details are meant for parents, guardians and coaches. We do not knowingly collect contact information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has sent us theirs, write to us and we will delete it. Enrollment in any Mental Grit program is always done by a parent or guardian.
Athlete Stories
An athlete is named or pictured on our Results page only with permission to use their name, image and likeness, given by a parent or guardian for a minor. Where we do not have that permission, the story is told without the name, the numbers or any detail that would identify the athlete. A family that has asked not to be featured does not appear at all. If you or your athlete appear and would like that changed, write to us and we will act on it promptly.
How Long We Keep Things, and Your Choices
We keep messages and client records for as long as they are useful for serving you and as the law requires for business records. Anonymous feedback is kept indefinitely, since it identifies no one. You may ask us at any time what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and we will do so unless we are legally required to keep it. We never sell personal information, and we share it only with the service providers named on this page, or when the law requires it.
